Malaysia's Mundane Horoscope

The following is an analysis of Malaysia’s Independence horoscope; giving the most effective representation of her life cycles acting as a crucial backdrop to the rise of different Prime Ministers. This analysis deploys the most fundamental of astrological principles shifting only the context from that of an exoteric/esoteric individual to that of a collective and mundane entity. I am also using the Saturnine planets in particular as they are more representative of the deep-seated undercurrents that move the citizenship through ‘collective’ time.

st9,10/(7). The nation’s rajayogakaraka Saturn is placed in a digbala 7th bhava; 11th to the 9th, 10th to the 10th, implying betterment accruing from partnerships, and of its ‘extended’ vision. This is potentially beautiful, but we should find a PM with a positively significant Saturn in his own horoscope, and in affinity with the nation’s own for this to happen. Typically, this ‘partner’ deal will take long in coming before it is sealed favorably and mutually.

ur10/3. Everything to do with information, its communications, technology, processes, transportation and its authorities. There will be unique achievements in this area. Uranus is typical of new-ness such as typical of new inventions, new technologies, methodologies, etc. Its occupation of the 3rd house of communications and messaging brings to mind Malaysia’s Multimedia SuperCorridor initiative that put her on the map of the digital world. As 10th ruler, that Uranus puts her ‘vision’ into the 3rd house; relating, communicating, reporting, documenting, etc. This will put Malaysia at the forefront of pioneering a new mode of communication effectiveness. It’d be amusing to think that this would apply to the adoption of the Malay Language to become Bahasa Malaysia, the official language of a multi-racial Malaysian society.

np11/5,(6). This is not an encouraging place for a planet representing grand visions. Fiscally, the 6th house is more deficit than anything else. It promises financial obligations, debts, and even legalitites relating to such obligations. It’s even worse if Neptune rules 11th of gains and 5th of enterprise as is this case. I fear that the ‘entrepreneurialism’ of the country will backfire against an unprepared or immature stewardship of such an enterprise. This same position however, suggests that a turnaround is possible if a greater sense of service to community is enforced at street level. Judging by this, the ‘national service’ style with a focus on ‘character development’ of the youth does not fit the bill for this Neptune position.

pl7/3,(4). The nation becomes a dynamic representative of global issues or take the rein of leadership of world bodies. Pluto as 7th ruler reveals ‘partners’ to be a major significance. But within orb of the 4th bhava cusp, it is even further accentuated; telling me that a major spurt of progress to the next higher level will happen with a crucial partnership. At the worst, this is a typical position for internal unrest. The basic home structure will be disrupted, old values rooted out, new values implanted, new initiative for newly installed visions. This has happened before, but this horoscope relates to the probability of a post-independence future time-frame.

In my next posting, you’ll find my analysis of the inter-planetary configuration of these planets in the whole horoscope as opposed to the above singular positional analysis.

Clarifying astrological Affinity between horoscopes

The backbone to how things work together in horoscopy is all about the Rule of Affinity. Between one person and another, between one person and a team, an organization, a country. There is no exception to this rule. It is the fundamental element behind all synergy in this created universe.

But a better explanation on affinity is in order. For most, affinity is when I love baseball, and you love baseball, so we can get married. And the ultimate surmisation: affinity=joy! These are major flaws only because the general capacity to understand the depths of the principle is limited to material gratification.

The Rule of Affinity in the metaphysics of astrology works at a very much higher level: soul physics. In this respect, what might be detestable in the view of the other, might just be the catalyst needed to drive that person into a specific direction. A synergy actually only happens when what is missing in one, is present in the other, and a mutuality happens where one fuels the other into growth; yet in unique and separate directions.

In the recent charts studied just at the yoga prediction level, I find that the horoscope of the DPM, Najib Tun Razak, actually possesses more affinity with Malaysia's horoscope. This is based on a direct after-analysis of his horoscope, outside of the yoga prediction system. Affinity in this case means, they can work together. Najib and Malaysia make a good team. Najib is good for Malaysia's horoscope, and Malaysia is good for Najib's horoscope. But what does that really mean? This does NOT necessarily mean 'success'. Instead, what it really means is 'mutuality' where the two, Najib and Malaysia will get to feed each other's goals. The question therefore must be: what is Najib's goal, and what is Malaysia's goal? If Malaysia is going down the drain, and Najib's chart has affinity, then it might mean he's going to help make that happen, or if Malaysia's destiny can be better, might he steer it to better directions? As it is, if Malaysia is expected to grow into a 'developed' nation, he should become a powerful catalyst, even more so than the PM, to make it happen. It's just that I see some not-so-nice yogas that can actually be referred to as doshas as well in Najib's chart.

But in understanding that Malaysia's governance is no less than an executive decision, it is therefore a collective aggregate. I can shortcut the big job of developing a database of horoscopes of key representatives in parliament by simply relying on the nation's horoscope. So this is what I'm going to do next. Besides we have Malaysia's birth time, and the nation's horoscope is more reliable than even the PM's or DPM's. So tune in tomorrow.

Yoga Predictive Astrology considerations

At first glance, the uninitiated will argue how the different occurring yogas may list contradictions between them. After almost four decades of observing these formulas, I can say that the jyotish siddhis were aware of such possible occurrences, but they had an algorithm that is now lost in antiquity that we can only guess. I have since regarded these seeming contradictions as integrative and present in that combined package, one not neutralizing the other. For instance, where one yoga promises wealth, and the other poverty, that only redirects us to the probability that at one time in his life, the subject will have immense wealth, whereby at another, he may fall into states of abject poverty. Where in one yoga, he is said to be cowardly, and another says he is a commander-in-chief, it only shows an uncompromising seed of bravery and victory even if for the most part of his life, he had been infamously spineless and cowardly.

Astrological yoga predictions for Najib Tun Razak's horoscope

The following are astrological yoga predictions for Najib Tun Razak's horoscope. These are from ancient dictums derived from absolute and non-compromising 'classic' formulas. It must be regarded as fragments of 'provisions'. From here, the diligent student should try to arrive at an intelligent aggregate and eventually synergize it with a wholesome and direct analysis of the actual natal chart (not done yet). I will leave this here for a while and allow everyone to soak in my compilation. So please do not call it my analysis. It is not. I just listed out what existing yogas are 'present' in the horoscopes of the PM and the DPM, and the 'interpretations' listed were results of ancient precise terms in Sanskrit. Only the commentary is mine. Here goes:

Pasa yoga: active, talkative, no character, possesses servants, imprisoned. Commentary: The term used is rajasika; implying one of action and involvement, always engaged. But how the algorithms could factor in talkative and 'character' I am doubtful. Servants imply that he will have aids to do his bidding; suggesting that he's a 'team' person. The last word 'imprisonment' can also mean 'made disabled', or restrictions imposed. At the worst, it can be blatant imprisonment.

Chandradhi yoga: He becomes a commander, minister or king, will have long life, live without disease, will prosper, and overcome enemies. Commentary: The word 'king' was often described as a penultimate position that will command respect from subjects, and where he will lead whole communities or societies. To 'overcome enemies' aside from the obvious, is also metaphorical implying an aptitude for great problem-solving.

Kemadruma yoga: Royal born, loses wife, possessions, poverty, misery, diseases, wretched, unclean, servitude, rogue, hated conduct. Commentary: He is born to a high-ranking family, will outlive his wife, but if his wife's horoscope is more powerful, than separation is possible, his living conditions may deteriorate, and he may sideline his primary objectives and become loathed by others rather than be understood.

Gajakesari yoga: Destroys enemies like lion, eloquent, noble in assembly, energetic, long life, builds bright fame, exceptional intellect, victorious by valor. Commentary: A much desired yoga, it gives the subject power to overcome, makes commanding delivery, stands respected in a crowd. He is energized, blessed with longevity and builds a name for himself with his dare and intellectual brilliance.

Kalanidhi yoga: Passionate, amiable virtues, honored by great kings, attended by armies and royal paraphernalia, no disease, dangers, enemies. Commentary: A man driven by vision and passion, he is respected by his superiors. And of course, "attended by armies and royal paraphernalia" is an absolute description of his position as the nation's Defense Minister. This yoga also blesses him with a disease free life or enemies.

Astrological yoga predictions for Abdullah Badawi's horoscope

The following are crucial yogas present in Badawi's horoscope:

Damini Yoga: He helps others, becomes wealthy, will possess cattle, become brave, have children and possess gems. Commentary: in current context, cattle would be translated as the building of a prosperous family or an empire. While having children is no big deal these days, in ancient times, to have children is a promise of your continuity.

Adhama yoga: Low morale, bad finances, no knowledge, meagre intellect. Commentary: we are dealing with very much an ordinary leader with his own vulnerable moments that will demand attention and better personal management.

Chandradhi yoga: He becomes a commander, minister or king, will have long life, live without disease, will prosper, and overcome enemies. Commentary: the word 'king' was often described as a position of respect from subjects, and where he will lead whole communities or societies. To 'overcome enemies' aside from the obvious, is also metaphorical implying an aptitude for great problem-solving.

Anapha yoga: Eloquent, rich, lordly, healthy, character, favors, happy, contented, well-dressed, good food and drinks, garlands, girls. Commentary: favors normally indicates his destiny for receiving gifts and privileges from authorities and superiors and garlands means receiving decorations and awards for meritorious deeds. Girls in old terms would mean to have the privilege of being always taken care of rather than be left alone without the aid of the gentler sex.

Subhavesi yoga: Handsome, happy, virtuous, brave, king. Commentary: this yoga is a credit that only comes from the occupation of a naturally benign planet in the immediate artha house in the sign after that occupied by the Sun and therefore primarily refers to affluence and security matters. The only word that would appear out of context here is 'handsome'. But again, old texts always used to associate that word 'handsome' with the kshatriya or warrior class, or subjects of valor. So I add that the implication here is that he will attain affluence by position and the dare of a warrior.

Papavasi yoga: Deceitful, abusive, company of rogues, wicked, yet quoting scriptures. Commentary: while he maintains an awareness of religiosity, he is not without sensitivity and might consider urgent and not so refined strategies to solve debilitating problems.

In using the yoga system of vedic astrological prediction, generally, this is how it works out. We take a few steps back, see the horoscope as a whole and see how the 'patterns' in that horoscope stack up against or with each other, and see what the database of compiled observations have to say. As for the synthesis, I suggest you leave it aside for now. Just see what has been said about the horoscope, and try to figure some kind of aggregate view if you can. But still, don't conclude anything yet. Notice that no mention of timing is made in any of the above.

We have the paper cutting shown in our Mundane Astrology work some time ago saying how it was Badawi's grandfather, a Muslim with astrology knowledge, who was responsible for the selection of the date for Malaysian Independence.

Yoga system of astrology prediction for unrectified horoscopes

Since there is no ascendant or lagna to set the functional characteristics of the planets in either case, we need to use a system that relies on the interplanetary situational measurements for such births. So while I have offered the aspect relationships earlier, and we'll leave that there until when we pick them up for another leg of our analysis, let us explore one of the most ancient methods of predictive astrology; the yoga system of vedic astrological prediction.

As you would know, yoga implies 'essence of combination'. In this system of prediction, conclusions are made as the result of a wholesome measurement of all contributing planets relevant to a certain pattern that the ancient database has compiled and previously observed through time to produce certain types of results.

The ancient mahacharyas knew about the importance of analyzing things from a 'wholesome' and collective approach. Instead of making a definitive conclusion of what a single planet has to say in a single position in the zodiac, they spent time to look at all angles of the horoscope to factor broader weights contributed by varying players before they make a definitive 'prediction'. It is a method of assessing the horoscope from a higher and 'collective' perspective rather than a focused and tighter measurement of a single house or rasi. In fact, this system is the heart of the techniques used by our ancient jyotish siddhis.

Personally, I have not yet decoded the algorithm that led them to use precise consequential keywords as they do, and some among those keywords appearing out of context from the group, yet precisely relevant to the individual. The sun-lunar underlying principles are easy and are already decoded, but there's still much more to discover and work on in this area.

A glaring view of this yoga prediction system is how it handles issues. In this system, the analyst is not led into a path of analysis to determine the state of a specific condition or problem, let alone to find solutions. Rather, the analyst 'scans' the whole horoscope to see what configurations exist that have been discovered and observed through time to have produced certain categories of results. And when certain yogas exist, the forthcoming 'prediction' is a string of keywords that will bear precise truth to the subject's life experiences. And one of the established descriptions of the yoga outcome is that the properties existing are regarded as 'intrinsic' in the life of the individual.

The closest thing to the yoga system is the longitudinal distances between the planets whether by houses or signs. Even amsas are only occasionally mentioned and even that, particularly when quantification of strengths are considered in the equation. And the nakshatras are used in this system particularly in relation to nadi workings; otherwise they are rarely mentioned either. Students are recommended not to neglect longitudinal aspects and not to adhere to just dhristhis alone. This will prepare students for the realization of higher truths in astrology.

I strongly welcome your comments and experiences on this treatment of yogas. It is a prediction system by itself and represents the oldest prediction model ever.

Look forward to the astrological yoga predictions for Abdullah Badawi's horoscope tomorrow, and Najib Tun Razak's day after.

Planetary aspects from horoscopes of Badawi, Najib and Malaysia

The following are ptolemaic aspects for Badawi, Najib, and Malaysia. Students don't need to worry if they are sidereal or tropical because they apply either way as the ayanamsa reducing it from tropical to sidereal does not alter the relationships. You all know of my work with these aspects. Having tested it for decades with weather predictions, professional use, and Ng's famous 4-D strikes, the aspects can be the final bastion of truth in solid astrological application. No dhrishtis are listed here, reserving that for yoga analysis use only. Also, broader orbs are used. Advanced students? Filter out the common relationships and figure the potency charge variation.

How do you make astrological predictions for Abdullah Badawi's horoscope without reliable data?

We're going to do the same thing here as we did for the DPM. Assess his sun-moon strengths.

Just hours away from a Full Moon, Badawi is filled with 'power'. But this kind of power carries with it much sensitivity, typical of lunar type energy. And on that Full Moon axis is a nasty retrograde Mercury that will warp him whenever the phenomenon comes along (like now), and pushes him into regrettable mistakes. Weaker personalities easily succumb to bad accidents with this kind of configuration.

His moon doesn't have any positive lead, but it's got a saturnine mess behind. That's not too good for self-management. His moon might be exalted, but I don't think it can hold up against a saturn (debilitated) -kethu conflict as close as this conjunction. It's like he is easily weighed down with personal regrets and needs a good pick-me-up to handle personal woes before he can effectively tackle more outward things, or things outside of his personal sphere.

His sun on the other hand has a beautiful venus lead. This accounts for the impression the people have of him as 'Mr. Nice'. Another positive position he has is his swakshatra Jupiter, 11th to his exalted Moon. This shows a good probability of fulfilling hopes and dreams at a pesonal level. This sounds hopeful for the nation.

How do you make astrological predictions for Najib Tun Razak's horoscope without reliable data?

Looking at the Moon in the horoscope is one of the first things to do when you are not certain of the birth details of that horoscope. So, hoping that at least we got the day right, the lunar connections alone, against the context of the life of Najib Tun Razak would give us a good idea of how his planetary configurations would express themselves in his context. This work must be regarded as an astrological 'opinion' and it does not have to co-relate or not to public opinion of Najib. I love my country and I want to be responsible here, yet the study must be to the advantage of my students.

Be conscious of your path of analysis and watch the consistency of your procedures. Always do an initial overview. Put aside your personal bias that will disrupt the effectiveness of your analysis. Do not rush into a conclusion. Don't do 'timing' work or any co-relations yet. Just extract the 'big story' first. Once you 'see' that, stay there for awhile, and affirm what you see. This is what we're going to do here.

The first thing a trained classic student sees in this horoscope is the kemadruma yoga. This is where the moon is bereft of influential support on either side of his moon's zodiacal sign. To most extent, this condition can be classified as a dosha. It is a janma rasi rendered weak; bereft of influence. Now if it was a normal Joe holding a steady 9 to 5, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Maybe at worst, it would just translate into bad office politics. But when it's a person of public position and stature, I would wonder about his ability to build, sustain, and contain power. This man needs to have a good team that he can rely on. Without considering other variables in the equation, that Kemadruma Moon can be a floundering cause for political mishaps (and he doesn't even have to be a 'cause') unless he uses astrology more intimately in his personal and professional scheduling. By the way, most people with weak moons in their horoscopes tend to draw to them people and situations that will complicate their situations.

Next see the sun. His sun is in a state of what is called a papaubhayachari yoga. Strangely, this is the sun's parallel malady to the earlier cited kemadruma moon! It's as if his sun and moon are doing an evil duet. Of all the planets, this is the symbol that makes for his public 'strength' and 'image'. Without mentioning the ill-relations his sun has by virtue of being conjoined with some other malignant planets, this sun position alone is utterly weak. All the more I admire this man for being where he still is. This configuration tells me that he would have gone through insurmountable odds to get to where he is! The idea that he inherits his position by virtue of being a former Prime Minister's son cannot apply when I see this. He worked hard to claim this position where he is today. He could have lost the privilege, but he wrested it from whatever could have prevented his desire and made it a greater reality for himself. But yes, there are dangers.

These two doshas, with neutralizers or not, will still be part of his intrinsic 'impediments' that he will carry with him, and yet, he is today the nation's deputy prime minister. I am not going to search for how he has managed to arrive there because I have to fall back to a consistent protocol of analysis. The idea is, first off, for a horoscope without reliable birth data, how would you read it? Check out the sun and moon. And that's what we did. The statements made therefrom must be the 'overview' to a subsequent and more detailed conclusion.

Okay... now to share a crucial principle in horoscopy. To go 'against the grain' of the provisions of the horoscope, something has to 'give way', especially if there are other provisions that imply so, affirm so, and may act as a catalyst to such probabilities. Keep this in mind.

Public Domain data of the PM and DPM

Earlier births, especially pre-Independence, were typically not furnished with birth times. So I'm left with public domain data to work with. This of course, is not verifiable, and I will have to say what I always say to all beginning students: the reliability and accuracy of your work is only as reliable and accurate as the data you work with.

From the various sources available, I got the data of the Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi as: Date of Birth - November 26, 1939, close to Penang, with MST at 7.20 hours GMT. With Lahiri's ayanamsa, I calculated his saturnine longitudes down to nirayana URr26ar, NP2vg, PLr10cn, and his medium coeli to MC04sc. For people of significant positions in organizations and all aspects of governance, I always have special consideration for the use of the M/Cs whether in tropical or even sidereal reckoning. Here's the chart on the left but without the saturnines inserted. Also, the lagna is for noon, but I am not using that for the analysis. I am strictly using the Moon only, and all reckoning is strictly relative to the Moon. I'm using broader orbs for the ptolemaic aspects minus the dhrishtis. So here they are for the PM: snmc.cnj snms.sqr snjp.trn snpl.trn, mnjp.sxt mnur.cnj mnnp.trn, mcms.sqr mcpl.trn, vnjp.sqr vnst.trn vnnp.sqr vnrh.sxt, msrh.trn, jpnp.opp jppl.trn, stpl.sqr, urnp.trn, strh.opp, plrh.sqr.

As for the Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, it was July 23, 1953 at Kuala Lipis, Pahang., with 7.30 hours MST and his saturnines calculated to UR26gm, NP28vg, PL29cn, his M/C to 26gm. Below is his chart, with the same considerations as above. His aspects are as follows: snmc.cnj snms.cnj snrh.opp, mnvn.opp mnjp.opp mnst.sxt mnnp.sxt mnpl.trn, mcms.cnj mcrh.opp, vnjp.cnj vnst.trn vnnp.trn vnpl.sxt, msst.sqr msur.cnj msnp.sqr msrh.opp, jpst.trn jpnp.trn jppl.sxt, stur.sqr stnp.cnj stpl.sxt urnp.sqr nppl.sxt.

In both these cases, I shall use primarily the karakattwas followed closely by the functional traits relevant to the Moon.

These interesting cases give us the opportunity to fall back on the yoga system and to check on the vitality of the moon in the face of a 'missing' lagna. These leaders are characters of 'significance' in the making of the nation's destiny, and their presences in our society's collective unconscious and awareness make their horoscopes directly relevant to the measurement of the nation's own horoscopic 'internal events'. In this case, I'd rather not speculate and fix the lagna to noon or sunrise. Using soli-lunar referencing should give big clues and reveal significant weights in terms of predictive 'value'. Also, the reading of the dasa-bhuktis relative to the planet's rulership and occupancy to the Moon should bear great relevance from this perspective.

For those of you who have not seen this in action, I will show how some aspects of the chart can bear relevance to some specific features of the face. For senior students, handle the gochara configurations, calculate their thithi and karana, and see if you can make comments on their natal triggers or recurring configurations. See the obvious, and make your comments. I would like to see what comes to your sight/mind, and I would like to hear you address what you see or what you think you should be saying or doing.

Institute developments

We reviewed this decision many times, and we're finalizing our strategy. The way things are going, what with my retirement plan and all, the Institute will be going on-line as its mainstream platform. In the meantime, I will be present with my senior students dishing out our charitable Kakshaas whenever I can. As of now, we're working hard restructuring everything for this initiative. I'm glad the Moolabhoota degree is ready and is now rolled-out. You'll see that it's open for registration under 'Long-Distance Learning'.

The next one coming up next is the non-certification short course How To Make Predictions In Less Than 48 Hours. Other short courses are also in the pipeline and should be proudly rolling out shortly within the next few weeks. These short course series will bring a welcome change from the typically upmarket price tags that the market has on these high-value alternative-thinking models. I'm particularly glad in that these will be as automated as possible, requiring less management logistics and preparation. The student will also have the privilege of studying at their own pace, and step into the l-i-v-e sessions or 'exams' when they are ready.

So get out those credit cards, put that dhoti or sarong on, go to your PC, and LOG-ON! Next change.

I've really enjoyed myself helping to clarify people's questions about astrology at allexperts.com. But people really don't know what that means. For most, they think that it's where they can get free consultations for their personal horoscopes.

Unlike in psychism, maybe, the professional only needs to squeeze his forehead gently twice, with a gentle frown, and out pops the 'imagery' or 'feel', celestial astrologers both tropical and sidereal, do not easily do this for free because of the amount of work involved. So, many people are not aware of the immense work that an honest astrologer would have to go through before he concludes a 'prediction'. And if he's a dedicated professional, there's only so far he would go.

What I like about offering my free services at allexperts.com is that the questioners here are definitely more serious than the people I used to interact with at the Yahoo Chats. Oh yes, I'm also now an expert in the Financial Astrology category as well, and I have specifically mentioned that that work is particularly confined to the Personal Financial Astrology curriculum taught at the Institute of Astrological Science, Malaysia. So those of you going for your PFA practitioner license and graduates, please feel free to forward your relevant questions there.
